1. Scope and who we are
This Privacy Policy applies to the Moon Moose website, the Moon Passport sign-up experience, and related pages that link to this policy (together, the “Site”). Moon Moose is an independent, story-driven digital art and community project. In this policy, “Moon Moose,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to the Moon Moose team operating the Site.
This policy does not cover third-party websites or services, including X, Instagram, Solana services, wallets, marketplaces, or any other service that has its own privacy terms.
2. Information we may collect
Information you choose to provide. This may include:
- your email address;
- your country or time zone;
- your level of experience with Solana;
- whether you are interested in future product testing;
- your separate consent to be contacted about testing; and
- messages, feedback, or other information you send to us.
Account and social information. When you sign in through X or another supported provider, we receive the information that provider makes available with your permission, such as your account identifier, display name, username, profile image, and authentication token. We do not receive your social account password.
Participation information. We process your Moon Passport number, registration status, creation time, generated passport image, sharing choices, and basic records needed to maintain the experience and prevent duplicate or abusive registrations.
Technical information. Our hosting and security providers may automatically receive an Internet Protocol (IP) address, browser and device type, operating system, referring page, requested pages, approximate region, and request times. This information is generally used to deliver, secure, and understand the Site.
Cookies and similar technologies. We may use cookies, local storage, and similar tools to keep you signed in, remember essential choices, maintain security, prevent abuse, and measure Site performance. Where required, optional technologies are used only after the relevant choice or consent. You can control cookies through your browser, but blocking essential storage may prevent account and passport features from working correctly.
3. How we use information
We may use information described above to:
- operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and secure the Site;
- authenticate users and provide Moon Passport registration and related project features;
- create, display, remember, and share your Moon Passport when you ask us to;
- respond to questions, requests, and feedback;
- contact people about testing when they have separately agreed;
- understand broad audience regions, time zones, and experience levels;
- prevent spam, fraud, duplicate registrations, and misuse; and
- comply with law, enforce our terms, and protect people or the project.
We do not use optional survey answers to determine the visual Moon Passport you receive or to promise access to rewards. We publish to a connected social account only after you take a clear sharing action.
4. Legal bases
Where the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the United Kingdom GDPR, or similar laws apply, our legal basis depends on the context. It may be your consent; steps requested by you before providing a service; our legitimate interests in running, improving, and securing the Site; or compliance with a legal obligation.
When processing depends on consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time. Withdrawal does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal.
6. International transfers
The Internet is global. Information may be processed in countries other than the country where you live. Where required, we use recognised safeguards for international transfers, such as adequacy decisions or approved contractual protections.
7. Retention
We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, including security, record-keeping, dispute resolution, and legal obligations. Retention periods may vary by category. We may keep de-identified or aggregated information that no longer reasonably identifies a person.
8. Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical measures designed to protect information. No website, transmission, or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure. Please do not send passwords, wallet seed phrases, private keys, government identity documents, or other sensitive secrets through the Site or our social channels. Moon Moose will never ask for a wallet seed phrase.
9. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to ask for access to, correction of, deletion of, or a portable copy of your personal information; to restrict or object to certain processing; to withdraw consent; and to appeal or complain to a data protection authority.
We may need enough information to verify a request and locate relevant records. Some rights are subject to lawful exceptions. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.
10. Children
The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If local law requires a higher age for a child to provide consent, that higher age applies. A parent or guardian who believes a child provided personal information should contact us so we can investigate and delete it when appropriate.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the project, technology, or legal requirements change. We will post the revised version here and change the effective date. If a change materially affects how previously collected information is used, we will provide additional notice when required.
